Thipwimarn Resort - Koh Tao

Great location, rooms large with beautiful views.

The location was nice, although a bit too secluded for our taste, and with no access to the sea, which was a big minus. The hotel area is located on a steep hill side, and is absolutely not to be recommended for families with children, since there are plenty of passages where there is clear risk of falling. All areas must be accessed through steep stairs, which becomes a problem if you´re pregnant or have heart problems. The restaurant is simply malfunctional. The restaurant was during our attempt to have dinner overwhelmed by four (sic) guests (in the whole restaurant), dishes are served after prolonged waiting, and they have no clue about drinks. The most worrying thing was that the staff consisted of two under-aged boys, who were far to young to be employees and of course did not really handle the situation of serving at a restaurant. The place felt in a strange way abandoned, as if you´ve built a very nice place and the staffed it with people without any experience of hotel management, and with children. Many minor thing, such as a receptionist who had absolutely no knowledge of English, a choir of very noisy frogs living in ponds on the hotel area and prevented us from sleeping, etc etc - made us say "This is enough" and leave two days prior to booked check-out. Tipwimarn was not worth the money. Try Cabana or Charm Churee instead for more professionally run hotels with nice ambience.

If you are old, very young or having some kind of handicap do NOT choose this hotel. The rooms are far far away from reception it there is a lot of stairs. We did count ours and we had 139 stairs from our room to reception. We will not go back to this hotel again. It is to hard to everyday go theese stairs, you get so tired..
