Samui Palm Beach Resort

Nice hotel, located 20 minutes walk from Fishermans village, along the beach. Very clean, nice and helpful staff, fairly well english speaking. The only disappointment was the beach. There were no umbrellas to provide protection from the sun so we could not be on the beach as much as we wanted. The sunbeds were cheap plastic, could be a lot nicer for a 4-star hotel. The water is not very nice, since the bottom all along Bo Phut beach is covered in some slimy vegetation which also is in the water. Also, we would have liked to be able to have the breakfast buffet outdoors, which wasn't allowed. The swimmingpools were very big and the pool area nice and not too crowded (july).

This hotel is wonderful in the past many years. It is large and spacious with many facilities. However, it now looks old and shabby. I felt very disappointed when I stayed in this hotel for four days. I felt being cheated as the photos of the hotel in the wed site of Asia room are beautiful and grand.
My room is decorated in old-style with poor hygiene. Many insects and ants were found and the air-conditioner was not cold enough. The hotel fitness room is old and dirty that you do not want to do exercises there. Also, there are two large swimming pools but the water is too deep for children to swim. Also, the edge of the pools was very dirty.
I requested morning call but no one called me. Also, I called the front desk around 12:00am and also, no one answered. Apparently, staff is not enough in the hotel. Only one or two staff worked in the reception and restaurant.
The quality of breakfast is poor with little choice. Only one restaurant is opened in the hotel and others were closed. Many rooms are vacant and the surrounding area is terrible and dark at night that you do not dare wandering around.
I wanted to take shuttle bus arranged by the hotel to Chaweng but my need could not be entertained because the van with only about 10-seats arranged by hotel once at about 8:00pm a day was full. I thought that it was impossible for a hotel with 4-star provided such bad service. Could a 10-seat van once a day meet the demand of residents in such large hotel?
I blacklist this hotel and I strongly advised you not to choose this hotel.

Bedrooms and service are nice but facilities such as swimming pool are old fashion, need revamping
