Thavorn Beach Village & Spa Resort is located at the secluded Nakalay Bay, which according to legend is protected by the dragon-snake Naka and his mermaid Marisa. The resort boasts 120 Thai style villas in addition to 75 bungalows all with 3 - 5 star western amenities and situated just 7 minutes drive North of the bustling action of Patong Beach. Phuket International Airport is only 40 kilometers by road and Phuket Town is 25 kilometers away. The Pool Terrace Villa Rooms give direct access from the balcony to the Blue Lagoon, a massive free-form swimming pool which sits in the heart of fragrant gardens and was designed to blend in with the surrounding natural environment. Pool Side Villa Rooms enjoy panoramic views of the lagoon style pool, flowering landscape gardens and the white sands of Nakalay Bay. Set on the hill side, reachable by cable car (the only one on Phuket) are the Ocean View Villas, each with spectacular views of the Andaman Sea and lavishly appointed in teak and marble. Each Villa also has its very own open air Jacuzzi on the balcony. From the Sea View Bungalows you can step directly onto Nakalay Bay beach and stroll along the waters edge, while the Garden View Bungalows are set amidst peaceful tropical gardens. These bungalows are set on the verge of perhaps the most attractive isolated beach on the Island of Phuket. We had a very pleasant stay. The staff were very friendly. The room was clean. The grounds were well looked after. We would definitely stay here again.
Thavorn has a wide variety of rooms in its beach village. It was very nice, but if you take the cheapest option, you are put in a small beach hut with dysfunctional air conditioning and roaming roosters that ca-caw for about 40 minutes every morning around 0630. There are only 2 one way shuttles a day into Patong and the going rate is 300 Baht to return be it by TukTuk or high end taxi. There is NO internet option in the rooms, and it is quite expensive (compared to free wireless in most other hotels) to get an internet card that you almost have to be in the lobby to use. The staff was great. The buffet breakfast had a wide selection. The restaurant on the beach was delightful.
This is NOT a 5 star hotel! The rooms were really dirty and old. We paid for 5 nights but left after one. It took 5 weeks to get our refund (which we were made to pay on arrival before seeing the room). The pool area's are nice but the rooms were terrible. Dead insects, thick dust, broken toilet seats etc. The spa charges 2500 baht for a 50 minute massage (about 10 times the going rate in Thailand). The staff were unhelpful and sadly very miserable. We were there for Christmas and it ruined our day; no atmosphere or Christmas spirit. The fitness room was extremely old with broken equipment. The beach is not very nice and rocky. I have never been so disappointed in a hotel.
