Malisa Villa Suites

I have read quite many reviews on Malisa before I made the decision and I was convinced that it was a very private villa. However when we checked in, we could see a 4-story building with balconies where people sitting outside! They could look down on our villa and the pool. We asked to change the room, but they said it was fully booked without checking. Anyways, the next day we were moved to another villa where we had our privacy until we saw some guys working on the roof of neighboring villas! Indoor shower and toilet area has no shades or whatsoever so again, no privacy in the really private area of the villa. We had problem getting spa vouchers and then were sold a birthday cake for 700 THB which honestly didn't look like the price. (They asked "when" they could deliver the cake so at first we thought it was complimentary bday cake but then later they told us they charge ..hundred baht. Well, we thought it was a hundred, not seven hundred. Though the location was nice, I don't think we will go back to Malisa again. For that money, there are plenty of places we can stay without compromising our privacy.

The pictures were nicer than the accomodations. While nice enough, the facilities were quite dated. The pool is what sold us and it looked dirty and old. There were termites in the kitchen and the bathroom wooden sink looked cute until we noted it didn't drain well and seemed to hold the residue from tooth brushing. The mosquitos ate us alive although we sprayed the room and kept the doors shut. There were many gaps in the doors and the lighting was too dim. Ambience is one thing but remodeling is in order. Other than that, the location was nice. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and breakfast was a treat. Fresh juice would have been nice but one can't be too picky. There was internet provided in the room which was nice and a dvd player.

The villa was superb and cozy. Their service was excellent. I really enjoyed their in villa breakfast.
