Thavorn Palm Beach Resort

This hotel is a dive and not worth the 5 star branding it received from asiaweb. Ovewrpriced hotel at 4300 baht and nothing to show for it. Don't book here!

This Hotel puts way too much importance on it's gardens, which are beautiful & very appreciated. However I can not understand how any Hotel Management can justify so much time spent on gardening when the rooms are in such a poor state. Our bathroom (room 3209) had huge chips out of it which had been poorly repaired. The mini bar fridge rubber was covered in thick mould showing that it has not been cleaned in probably years. We had no running cold water in our sink during our whole stay. Our room lost all power which was repaired quickly. Our mini fridge actually broke down - this was not fixed, instead they stuffed it full of towels hoping to fix it for the next guests which were there for a government conference from Bangkok. Actually it was only just before the arrival of this conference group that I saw repair work been done in rooms & walkways been cleaned. They also have far too many restaurants open. They have 4 with 3 open for lunch/dinner during low season. In my opinion they closed the wrong restaurant. They should close either the Pizza or Mexican Rest & keep the more general restaurant open. As this Hotel is so far away from any alternative places to eat, we opted to stay in Patong for dinner.
The pools are beautiful and the staff are very lovely. Just please spend some money & fix the rooms!!

No treadmills in the gymnasium, kiddies corner unserviced, not enough television channels, air-con filters in room unserviced, dirty, we all developed nose and throat problems. No waterslide at pool for children.
