Phuket Orchid Resort & Spa

The hotel is a standard hotel, it is visble that it is used. Children pool was not maintained ("carpet" on the ground in the pool, to cover it, which made the kids to fall). Breakfeast was ok but no variation and no cucumbers, ham and these kind of stuff. In general to expensive for what you get for the money! Aircondition was not cleaned, and smelled bad but they just spayed parfume on the wall and in the room.

really overprices hotel. I've been at many other places and can compare. Rooms are very simple.. not bad, clean but like from 80ties.. breakfast all days was completely the same.. stuff looks like very tried from the huge amount of visitors.. esp on the frontdesk.. etc

We booked a deluxe pool / garden view room and were first given a superior room with backyard view. Told the hotel porter that this was not the room we booked. He called the front desk. We explained that this was not the room we booked and they asked us to wait. We waited in the room for 15 minutes. They called back and asked us to go down to the ground floor and wait for the key to the new room. We took the elevator down to the ground floor and waited another 15 minutes. The new room was a deluxe with pool / garden view. So after about an hour at the hotel, we had finally got the room we booked.
In the evening when we went to bed we heard a low frequency humming sound. At first I thought it was the air condition and switched it off but the sound continued. The next morning my wife went to the front desk and told them about the noise and the receptionist said, "it is a low frequency humming sound that sounds like this (imitating a low frequency humming sound). My wife said yes and the receptionist said yes we know. Thank you for giving us that room. My wife asked if we could change rooms and they said yes. They asked her to come back at 9:30 and pick up the key to the new room. At 9:30 my wife went to the front desk and asked for the key. There was an exchange of words that ended with a male receptionist yelling at my wife that the room would not be ready until 10:30. My wife came back to the room and told me about what had happened. I called the front desk and ask why they had behaved so badly towards my wife. The receptionist I spoke to was obviously ashamed and simply repeated the same words over and over again: "You can pick up the key at 10:30. OK?" I went to the front desk and picked up the key at 10:30, moved our bags and went to the front desk and handed back the old key. No excuse for the receptionist's behavior or offer to help us move our bags to the new room.
All in all a not very pleasant stay at the Phuket Orchid Resort.
