Karon Princess Hotel

The Karon Princess is a modest hotel that enjoys an excellent location in Karon Beach, Puhket. I reserved one of the few so-called 'de luxe' rooms. These rooms have a good, if distant, partial sea view and their size is good. I would warn against reserving a standard room: not only are these smaller but you could end up with a balcony and windows facing a concrete wall or a terrace a few feet from the main walkway providing access to the rooms.

The hotel offers no services to speak of other than a good substantial breakfast. The swimming pool is pleasant but on the small side, and allows for a limited number of lounge chairs and even fewer ones in shaded areas.

The hotel's clientele during my 2-week stay in late January/early February was nearly entirely russians, which allowed an anglophone but also French and Spanish speaking person like myself no interaction with the other guests.

Overall, this is a good choice in Karon Beach if you are seeking a clean, well-kept and fairly modest hotel. The rate for a 'de luxe' room was US$115/night, booked through an internet agency. While this seems a fair rate for Karon Beach, they are better rates available if one books on site.

When we came back from the beach all covered with sand there was nowhere to wash it off but to go to the room and get in the bathtub. An outdoor place to rinse off would have made a lot of sense for our sake and theirs. The pool is certainly nothing to get excited about. We did enjoy the live music on Thursday night.

The hotel is getting quite rundown and our room was way down the back and as there is no undercover we got wet getting to our room and there was barking dogs from the hotel behind us, we found that the staff could of been more friendly, the breakfast/ eating area was very small and was very congested at breakfast with all the guests, we stayed at the hotel next door the previous year and they were great, overall would not stay here again
