Chunut House Resort

Truly abysmal. Were given a very sub standard room and not the deluxe room as requested. When we complained and showed them pictures from their own website of a deluxe room we were told that they had over booked and as we were only their for 3 nights we could either accept it or go elsewhere. The room was out on its own, across the other side of the road and didn't have a number, and was referred to, by their own staff as 'that one'. So the free Wi-fi also wasn't applicable. Truly awful!

i enjoyed the bungalow; it would be good for couples, I suppose. But they made you ask for anything, a towel for the beach, water, etc. They didn't really offer anything. It was the least value of the 5 different hotels I booked with latestays.com

Read good reviews about this Chunut House, and wanted a room in the village, not in the middle of the party scene, but a fair walking distance. For that it was a great choice, even tho walking past the waste dump and a construction site to get to the hotel wasn´t the most pleasant route. But as many other rewievs fail to mention: you can go the other direction, but that´s a little bit farther.
Also guess I got the noisiest bungalow in the whole complex (No12): Next to the reception, close to the road, and with some local neighbours constantly chatting just outside my walls. Not as tranquil as it seemed from the reviews... Actually had a litte waterfall in the room(!) but had to switch off the power when I was in, cause it was making so much noise. Pretty, tho. Complete with a little frog and some fishes! :)
I wish it had been possible to hang my mosquito net, but the ceiling was so high! And the manager said that it was impossible for them to hang a net cause of the fan.. (They got me bugspray instead.)
But all in all the management was supernice, and breakfast in the "house bakery" was good. Atmosphere at night when they put out candles was magical. Had a great stay, and would probably feel like better value for money if I shared the huge room/bed with someone... (Had to book a double, as that was the only one left.)
If you are determined to stay in the village, and want a semi-tranquil place, I recommend Chunut House.
