Khaolak Merlin Resort

Excellent facilities but staff not always friendly/smily compared to other hotel / people met during our stay in Thailand

What to say about the Merlin Resort, exept it is truly a worthy place to visit. The pools and beach site are truly excellent. The staff are all helpfull above and beyond the call of duty, and you can truly see that its a tight shift that are in effect at this place. Everyone allways greet you with a smile no matter when you meet a staff member, and the services are allways cleaned with efficency and with care. I give this hotel an 8.5 on a 10 score list. Me and the wife truly enjoyed our stay, and were happy that we choose this particular hotel after haveing spent hours looking at different resorts/hotels in the Khaolak Area, we did not regret our choice.
Only thing that I can think of that could need improvements would be internet coverage to include all of the hotel instead of only at one specific bar and the close surrounding area. But in the end that is what would ahve pushed this hotel to a solid 9 on my 10 rateing list.
Merlin gets my solid recommendation for makeing our stay truly enjoyable, and if I am to return to the khaolak area, this would be me choice of resort again no doubt about it.

This place is very quiet, relaxing and perfect for a vacation. Hotel area is nicely landscaped in shady rainforest, hardly visible from the beach. Beach is quiet and there is a lot of space for everyone. There are no noisy water motor activities allowed. We enjoyed wonderful meals: breakfast and special buffets. Everything we ate was good. Massage was enjoyable and also spa. Hotel is a bit far from Khao Lak centrum, but we took taxi there. Also buses to Phuket run every hour, 150 Baht, and it takes about an hour. Khao Lak is much more beautiful and relaxing than crowded Patong, Karon and Kata beaches.
