Kaw Kwang beach resort was the first resort to be built on Koh Lanta and has been managed by the same local family ever since. It is located at the northern tip of Klong Dao beach, a 3 km. white sand beach that is the finest on Koh Lanta and is surrounded by green hills and the Andaman Sea. The resort features shady lawns and a large swimming pool with jacuzzi to enjoy and relax in and is the only resort on Lanta that has a coral reef right in front of the beach for snorkeling. Families will be happy to know that the sea is completely safe for children and is usually very calm at this sheltered end of the beach. And there are two more beautiful beaches to explore just a few minutes walk from the resort. And we are only 1.5 km. from Saladan, which is the main shopping area on Koh Lanta.

Took this hotel as it was an ok price. However, we changed asap our 2 booked nights were over. The location of this hotel is very bad and you need a scooter to reach other hotells and resturants if you not choose to walk along the beach. The bed was hard like a rock so we could hardly sleep. There was no curtain in the bathroom so when one took a shower there was water over the hole bathroom. The pool was very dirty and the walls were covered with green stuff around the tiles. We didn't test the restaurang so we can't say anything about it. As there were som "djungle" around the bungalows, there were quite a lot of mosquitos.

After recent tsunami all but destroyed a large part of the site, they have made a fantastic effort to rebuild an extremely attractive resort and it was nice to see the same staff who are obviously dedicated to this outstanding holiday destination. The restaurant is still in the process of a complete rebuild and looks like it will be better than before. We plan to return again very soon.
