Thailand is famous for its amazing beaches and sometimes the best are in places you don't expect! Koh Chang isn't part of the famous cluster of islands down south and instead sits far east of Bangkok near the border of Cambodia. We think it more than competes with those idolised destinations.
Part of the Koh Chang Marine Park archipelago, the area is crowded ... More>with islands of incredible beauty including Koh Chang itself. Appealing to visitors of all types, the island caters for backpackers looking for a bit of fun in a cheap Koh Chang hotel as well as those seeking privacy in a luxury resort. The west coast is where the best stretches of sand are situated, starting with Haad Sai Khao which is the most developed and tourist friendly. Klong Phrao and Kai Bae are two much quainter beaches with a number of high-end Koh Chang resorts while Lonely Beach is the place to head for the backpacker scene. Despite the name, it's not very lonely and is becoming an increasingly popular place to stay. One thing that all these beaches have in common is a beautiful tropical setting which is surely the reason many of us come to Thailand.
Koh Mak and Koh Kood are a pair of nearby islands also worth exploring and they can be reached by daily ferries from Koh Chang. Book one of our Koh Chang hotels and see this part of the country before the crowds from Phuket and Samui hear about it.
