Horizon Village & Resort

Thisted hotel does not show clearly ón the Web tjat it is 15 km. Out of town. The hotel shuttlen bus has one transport to the city at 11 am with no return and then again at 7 pm with a return at 10 pm.
The transport from the hotel to downtown Chiang Mai is 25 minutes and it is difficult to find a taxi and one that warnt to go that far out of town.

Excellent hotel in a beautiful garden setting. The staff is wonderful and the whole place is really beautiful and charming. It looks handmade and traditional but it is modern enough for comfort. The food is excellent and they offer a lot of extras, like plate of fruit waiting in the room and free rides to downtown Chiangmai (30 minute drive). There are a few small things that they could improve like free internet and real coffee rather than nescafe. The only complaint I had was that they give a ride to the city but they do not provide a return ride. The hotel is far away and Chiangmai does not have many taxis. Several taxis refused to drive me back, so I called the hotel and they called a taxi for me. That worked out fine but the simple solution would be if they offer a return ride in the afternoon. All in all this is a beautiful place to stay, a large property, very peaceful and quiet. They are just starting to construct a new building (as of December 2011) so maybe contact them and ask about noise before you book. They have a large botanical garden on the property which I didn't have time to visit but from the guide map it looks large and impressive.

We loved staying here. We were looking for a special retreat to celebrate our 30th anniversary, and were very pleased with the lovely setting and gardens to stroll through. We were surprised that more help was not offered in getting our luggage to our rooms, as the rooms are quite a walk from the main entry. Overall, staff was very helpful, and in the one or two instances of disappointment, the beautiful setting more than made up for the disappointments.
