Overall, we enjoyed our time in Salil Hotel. It is very clean, well maintained and staffs are very kind. It's within walking distance from one of the busiest skyrail station and there are plenty of nice restaurants and pubs nearby. I am definitely coming back to this hotel!
I enjoyed my stay at Salil, until I noticed at the connecting airport that my 200 U.S. dollars was missing from my bag. Otherwise I loved the hotel and the location, friendly staff and quiet location. I guess, I suggest you use the safe to keep your money.
The concept of the Salil hotels is a nice change of pace from the madness of Bangkok. The design and feel of the rooms made me feel as though I was staying at an English Bed and Breakfast. It was very relaxing there, not to mention that Soi 8 is a quiet Oasis in the center of Sukhumvit. In fact when walking the Soi at night one can hear birds! The hotel offers free DVDs from the front desk for you to take back and watch in your room. This is a very nice feature and my first night there I just staid in and watched movies. It was nice to stay in and rest after several weeks of travel. I should point out that the deal I booked included "Free lunch or dinner set', however upon arrival the Manager did not honor this. They did offer a complimentary welcome drink, however when I asked the restaurant about this it was for Orange Juice only. Also, I booked this hotel due to "Free late check-out" as I had a 9pm flight, however the hotel was unable to accomodate this request either, because they were booked that day. I would recommend calling ahead before you book online if you need late check out.
