This hotel must have been very grand in its day. It's a little tired and old fashioned. Need refurbishing. The staff are wonderful except for one lady in the breakfast room next to check in desks. We were told that is were to go for American breakfast but were not told there was a dress code. Make sure you wear long trousers or the lady will make you feel very uncomfortable...she took away my place setting even though I was not finished and my wife was still eating. But that just one little thing We enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend this hotel

I have been staying at the Imperial since 1990 and absolutely love the place.

My most recent trip was in Feb 2013, when I stayed 3 times for one night each (quick Bangkok shopping stopvers). On my second night I checked out of the hotel very early and did my usual check of the room before closing the door. When I got to X-Ray at the airport I opened my trolley bag to pull out my laptop and to my dismay found it was missing. That laptop had years and years of personal files, photos etc on there and that data was priceless to me.

Over the next few days I contacted the hotel, they had not found the laptop and on my 3rd staty the security manager went with me to the police station to report the loss. As far as I was concerned it was gone forever and I was pretty unhappy.

A few days later the General Manager of the hotel contacted me and to my delight told me that the laptop had been found, still in the room safe. The next room occupant clearly had also missed the fact that it was propped up on its side in the safe. The GM had personally taken the trouble to visit the room and found it for me. He then express couriered the latop back to me and I have it safely at home now.

I cannot express how delighted I am with the above-and-beyond service Michal Kitek the GM and his housekeeping staff has shown me over this incident. I thoroughly recommend the grand old dame of Bangkok hotels to all visitor to Bangkok.
