The Sukhothai is a beautiful hotel with many excellent amenities. It seems rare for a hotel of this size and quality to be in the middle of a busy city like Bangkok, but they pulled it off and offer many green spaces, a large outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, a spa, and multiple restaurants. Even the basic room is gorgeous: an oversized bathtub with a rubber ducky and bath salts, a shower with both the usual shower head and four supplementary ones to the sides, Bose speakers and subwoofer for the flat-screen TV, a nice view of the pool and tennis court, and complimentary wifi/newspaper/fruit/chocolate truffles/coffee/tea/water/lemongrass essential oil/small stuffed elephant (the latter two received upon housekeeping turning the beds for the night). The buffet breakfast at Colonnade was excellent, as well: won ton noodle soup, omelettes, waffles, and French toast made to order; pastries with excellent condiments like passion fruit jam; fresh tropical fruit (e.g., mangosteen, passion fruit, watermelon, pineapple); cereals; fresh juices (e.g., mango, guava, carrot and apple); congee with all of the fixings; Japanese options (e.g., tamago, miso soup, natto, sake onigiri); cold cuts and cheese; salad; and other miscellaneous goodies like duck, sauteed mushrooms, and red curry with chicken. The servers are quite quick about taking away any dishes you're done with, so there's no need to worry about coming back to a tall stack of dishes from having visited the buffet so many times. I also enjoyed the jacuzzi and sauna, both of which are in the locker rooms, which are open from 6am to 10pm. The fitness center (open 24 hours) has a good number of elliptical machines, treadmills, stationary bikes, weight machines, and free weights. I was even handed a pair of headphones to listen to the TV on the elliptical machine I used for just over 30 minutes since I forgot to bring my own. Wow, I can't say enough about the service here. When we dined at Celadon, the two of us shared one of the set menus and asked that the green papaya salad be subbed with the pommelo salad (both are the same price), and it wasn't a problem. They also gave me some Off to spray when I noticed that the mosquitoes were biting during my meal. I would definitely come back to stay at this hotel again if I were looking for a place to indulge my senses and maximize my relaxation in Bangkok.

This is one of the best hotels in the world. Its facilities are extraordinary and its people extrememy friendly, kind and efficient. However its price is quite competitive

Japanese staff was very kind and efficient, not only with regard to the in-house issues, but also with respect to reconfirmation, inquiry and several request to the next hotel in Sukhothai.
