Guests to the 37 storey Peninsula Hotel will be impressed by the palatial colonial charm but its the faultless service and attention to detail that really awes and sets the benchmark for premium luxury hotels to strive towards. Shoes are polished at the touch of a button; your preferred newspaper is noted and delivered each morning, and your favourite breakfast spot is remembered for the duration of your stay. Every request is fulfilled and nothing needs to be asked for twice. This is the superior treatment guests can expect at The Peninsula. The breakfast buffet in The River Cafe - with a beautiful setting beside the Chao Phraya on one side and lawn on the other - offers a suitably impressive start to the day, while five further restaurants on site each provide something different. Two standout experiences that must be tried at The Peninsula are afternoon tea in The Lobby and the dim-sum in Mei Jiang Cantonese Restaurant. Add to all this one of the finest Spas in the city and you have a complete package of unrestrained luxury that seems to blow through The Peninsula like a gentle breeze.

Rooms have a seamless blend of ultra-modern facilities with a plush timeless character, each with uninterrupted views of the majestic Chao Phraya River. Spacious bathrooms with two wash basins and vanity mirrors, and separate bath (with built in television) and shower continue the theme of prestige that instantly impresses upon the guest as they walk into the entrance hall. Deluxe Rooms are around 46sqm making them some of the largest in the city, and afford space for an executive working desk, sofa and coffee table. The rooms in The Peninsula are tastefully decorated and comfortable, shunning current fashion trends for a timeless look of teak wood and muted tones. For those who want a closer connection to the Bangkok riverside, Balcony Rooms on the higher floors offer a comfortable outdoor space with breathtaking views of Bangkok and the activity on the river, the perfect view for a relaxing drink after a day of exploring. Even though The Peninsula is on the opposite side of the river to downtown Bangkok, their three dedicated shuttle ferries are on hand to link guests to the nearby BTS skytrain system in minutes.

This Hotel is recommended for: >> Sightseeing, >> Couples, >> Business trips with the families

What we loved:
- Impeccable service from dedicated staff, including personalized butler service
- Manicured lawns, high ceilings and a mass of dark wood create a luxurious, timeless quality
- All rooms have views of the river and the Bangkok city skyline
- Unique cascading swimming pool running down to the riverside, but kept private from walkways by shrubs and tropical flowers
- Incredibly soft, oversized beds - both king sized and twins
- Impressive afternoon tea in the relaxed, river-facing lobby, and world-famous Cantonese restaurant, Mei Jiang, with the finest dim-sum in Bangkok

What you should know:
- The Peninsula is on the opposite side of the river from downtown Bangkok, although courtesy shuttle boats from a private pier are frequent
- Free Wi-Fi, Ethernet cable connection and fax machine available in all rooms
- Universal plug sockets available in all rooms
- Media centre with 41 LCD television and Bluray player, surround sound system, SD card reader and Ipod dock (not compatible with Iphone 5)
- Large rooms have space for a separate entrance hall, sofa with a coffee table, and executive sized work desk
