Taipei is the seat of government of the Republic of China (ROC) and the centre of commerce and culture, located in the Taipei Basin in northern Taiwan, surrounded by the Xindian River on the south, the Danshui (Tamsui) River on the west and Yangmingshan National Park is in the north. It’s one of the island’s main transport hubs, the northern terminus of the Taiwan High Speed Railway (THSR). As it is close to one of international airport, it is the starting point of travelling to Taiwan. The modern part of the city, around the world’s tallest skyscraper (2007), Taipei 101, Sinyi Blvd, Renai Road offer excellent shopping, city observing, catering. Taipei is full of beautiful temples and shrines. Night market and parks are worth a visit.
