With an ideal location halfway between Johannesburg and the airport, Bedfordview is an upmarket, leafy suburb on the city outskirts that has seen a lot of development in recent years. The Eastgate shopping mall is one of the city’s finest places, and close by is also the man-made Bruma Lake with its arts and crafts market – the ideal place to pick up some African crafts and curios. A modern network of highways makes it easy to connect to all parts of Johannesburg. Both the city centre and airport can be reached under 15 minutes, depending on the traffic. Bedfordview is a pretty neighbourhood with tree-lined streets and hills – one of the few areas of Johannesburg not built on flat land.
