Bratislava is the capital and largest city with cultural and economical centre of the country. It is the seat of the Slovak presidency, parliament and government, as well as homes to several universities, museums, theatres, galleries and other important economic, cultural and educational institutions. It has a very pleasant medieval inner city with tiny, narrow winding streets, surrounded by the biggest concrete block house complex. Move further east and there are plenty of rural places. Farms, vineyards, agricultural lands and tiny villages are situated just about 50 km away.
