Meknes Hotels

Meknes is a city in Northern Morocco, 130 km east of Rabat and 60 km south of Fes where A2 expressway serves the cities. Meknes was built by the Sultan Moulay Ismail (1672 – 1727), named after a Berber tribe, known as Miknasa. Meknes seems to be the Sultan’s home, since his tomb built here as well as the monumental entrance gate, ramparts and 12,000 horse stalls. Compared to Fes in numbers of markets, it has less ones that only a few covered streets lay the leather, djellaba’s carpets and silver, where take a couple of hours to explore. Bab Mansour and the Museum of Moroccan Arts are worth a visit and Volubilis, the Roman ruins is a just-cannot-miss place.
