In the Vietnamese province of Dong Nai, there is a resort town called Vung Tau. Vung Tau is a long stretch of land that extends 14km long and six kilometres wide. Vung Tau is one of the places in Vietnam that boasts fine beaches.  It is the perfect destination for those who want a beach vacation away from the crowds. In fact, Vung Tau is a favoured getaway of expatriates living in Ho Chi Minh City. It may not be as popular as Mui Ne and Nha Trang, but it does offer something unique to tourists and locals alike. Because of its location (125km from Ho Chi Minh City), anyone can conveniently plan a trip from the city.     

Vung Tau was initially called Cape Saint Jacques by French colonists. It used to simply be a port, but now it is shaping up to be a tourist destination thanks to the vacation villas being built in the immediate area. The bar scene of Vung Tau is also growing, and the number of hotels continue to increase. Another interesting feature found in Vung Tau is the oversized sculptures, which are often religious in nature.
