Sentosa Island Map
Singapore Maps
Sentosa IslandSentosa Island is not called ‘Asia's Favourite Playground’ for nothing. Sentosa, which means 'peace and tranquility' in Malay, is a man-made island located south of the Singapore's city centre. Visited by millions of people every year, the popular resort is home to a variety of themed attractions, rainforests, stunning beaches, a yacht marina and posh residences. It is hard to believe that before Sentosa became Singapore's most popular island resort getaway it was a fortress of the British forces in the 19th century. It was only in 1967 that the island was returned to the government and turned it into a holiday resort. Golf lovers will appreciate Sentosa Island thanks to its two famed golf courses: The Serapong and The Tanjong. Since 2006, The Serapong has been the venue of choice for the Barclays Singapore Open, which gathers golf professionals from all over the world. Meanwhile, Sentosa Island is where one will find Sentosa Cove—the country's first marina residential community. Aside from oceanfront luxury homes, Sentosa Cove also has shops and restaurants. The latest addition to the island is Resorts World Sentosa, which is considered as Singapore's first integrated resort. |
