Singapore Riverside, Clarke Quay

Clarke Quay is Singapore's historical riverside. Named after Sir Andrew Clarke, the city-state's second governor and Governor of the Straits Settlement from 1873 to 1875, this quay played a significant role in Singapore's trade and industry. Since the foundation of modern Singapore, Clarke Quay has been the commercial centre. However, when the government cleaned up the Singapore River from 1977 to 1987, the area was revamped and was turned into a commercial, residential, and entertainment hub. Clarke Quay is regarded as one of Singapore's most popular night haunts for visitors.

The designers took pains to further improve the appearance of Clarke Quay by incorporating whimsical installations, with some of the best photo opportunities. Various restaurants and clubs line this stretch of riverfront with a wide variety of options when it comes to culinary specialties.
