Changi Airport & Singapore East Coast

Located in Changi on 1,300-hectares of land, the airport is about 20 kilometres east-northeast of Singapore's commercial centre. Operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), it serves as the base of Singapore's premier airlines that include Singapore Airlines Cargo, Tiger Airways, SilkAir, Jetstar Airways and Valuair. As a whole, there are about 4,054 flights weekly. The airport itself is a major contributor to Singapore's economy, employing more than 13,000 people and accounting for over $4.5 billion in output. Since it was opened in 1981, Changi Airport has been the benchmark for aviation service excellence.

East Coast Singapore, on the other hand, is largely residential and offers limited attractions as most visitors only frequent the area on their way to and from Changi Airport. However, for the locals, the 20-kilometre stretch of white sandy beach is home to the Malay community. The area also offers a rustic yet solitary setting where tourists can enjoy eating and shopping in the evenings after the sun goes down.
