About the Hotel
Hotel Facilities
Lone Pine Hotel is an icon on the Batu Ferringhi beachfront scene. Established in 1948, it is the oldest hotel along the strip and strikes a chord with most visitors to Penang because it is truly unlike any other. Beach lovers will appreciate the fact that the white half-moon sweep of the complex (divided into several blocks) leads directly down to the soft, white sand strand. Meanwhile, couples (honeymooners especially) will love its secluded, romantic vibe. Families will appreciate the hotels L-shaped saltwater swimming pool and the variety of water sports activities available on the beachfront; alternatively, business travellers will be glad for the hotels quiet atmosphere, making it easy to concentrate on work even if you are sitting in one of the attractive cabanas by the beach. For all its grandeur though, Lone Pine Hotel remains firmly down to earth, drawing on the traditional architecture of the region with the resort encircled by towering casuarinas tropical pine trees, making it a favourite wedding venue. Besides that, the hotel has a few other onsite facilities including a gym, media room with Play Station consoles and computers, two restaurants (serving local and Japanese food) and a bar; if that is not enough to keep you occupied the hotel is set just minutes away from Penang Zoo.

Lone Pine Hotel is perfect for a calm seaside holiday, whether you decide to stay in the spacious, elegant rooms of the main hotel or in its chain of chic luxury villas, separated from the ocean by a stretch of well manicured lawns with a serried rank of sun loungers. Sister property to the Eastern & Oriental Hotel in downtown Georgetown, Lone Pine Hotel underwent extensive renovations in 2010 and all 90 rooms are done up in shades of cream and white, offset by dark wooden floors and brightly-coloured bed runners, throw pillows and artwork. There are eight air-conditioned room types available, ranging in size from 45sqm to 118sqm, with all units offering private balconies with sea views. In-room amenities remain the same across the board - think free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV and ceiling fan, but guests will also find traditional touches such as batik-print umbrellas and kimonos available. Select units come with special features such as a mini lounging pool on the terrace or a garden patio, while ground floor villas come with a separate living room and a bathroom with ‘his and her sinks and a deep freestanding tub.
