Thistle Port Dickson Resort

This was the first place where my boyfriend and I went for a trip together, therefore I've planned a short trip there for his birthday to remind ourselves of the wonderful time we've had. As expected, we've had a wonderful trip. The service were wonderful, especially from Rajeev (Italian Restaurant) and Nurul (Front Desk). My boyfriend, being the socialist he is went around telling everyone that it's his birthday and everyone there went the extra mile to make sure that he had a special day. The hotel owner came by for a short stay with some friends and literally occupy the whole restaurant (which was quite annoying). Though I've made booking with the restaurant for a romantic candlelight dinner at the exact spot my boyfriend and I first had dinner together, the booking were forgotten because of the visit by the hotel owner. They literally close of the whole kitchen for that. We were quite upset that our booking were ignored though Rajeev went the extra mile to make it up by requesting the chef to make an exception for us, set up a nice table right where I wanted it to be and let us have a wonderful meal there in the midst of his running around entertaining the inconsiderate, rich hotel owner who think he has it all. On top of that, Rajeev presented us with a complimentary cake which makes the whole celebration even more special. As my boyfriend has also been telling Nurul about his birthday, when we got back to our room, there was another birthday cake waiting for us in the room which was another lovely surprise. My boyfriend and I laughed about it but we can't help but feel thankful at how the staff actually took the extra mile to make it a great celebration for my boyfriend. The other staff were always smiling, always polite and helpful in all that they do. The room were clean and the bed was comfortable and really nice. Overall and stay that is well worth what was paid for.

Booked 3 rooms. One of the room was paid for 3 adults but was given a twin sharing bed instead of the requested 2 single beds and NO extra bed given. Another room aircon was out of order 30 mins after checked in. It was attended and repaired about 20 mins later, however was not working again 30 mins after repaired. The 3rd room had pipe leakage near toilet bowl, yellowish and smelly water attracted 1 little insect flying over it. Bath towel was with fishy smell. Most serious problem : Sleep was disturbed by pressured flowing water followed by loud bang in the water tank. The loud bangs happened with about 2 - 5 mins intervals day and night. Approached Duty manager in the morning after a sleepless night. She verified the noise and apologised. No further details or compensation given.

Head side of the bed had a foul feet smell, I hope it was not a carcass underneath!
Good color theme used and well-maintained facilities.
Hotel manager was helpful.
Needs free wifi - are you in the dark ages?
Needs ambient music everywhere.
Needs clear & obvious display of activity info & prices at the lobby.
Lifts are slow and dark.
Steps restaurant needs to be open for longer hours at night and be more attractive for guests to sit and have desserts & drinks.
