The Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur is situated in the prime location in Kuala Lumpur neighboring KLCC and Bukit Bintang area.
The hotel has a u-shape design that reflects the local architecture to provide guests with a truly Malaysian experience. High-pitched tiled roofs are typical of early Malay architecture as they assisted in keeping buildings cool.
Most rooms have panoramic views of the Petronas Twin Towers while others face forested hills to the east of the city, local design features such as carved wood, textiles and ceramics complement the cozy and comfort of the guest room.
There are 9 restaurant outlets offering mouth watering local to International cuisine. Other than that, guests can work out in the fully-equipped fitness gymnasium, participate in aerobics classes or be pampered in the spa. ... For a 5 star hotel, the services provided were poor - eg only 1 toothbrush despite the booking being for 2.
We made overseas calls with a calling card on a toll free number and were charged 5 ringgit for 16 calls. Most of these calls did not even connect. We always use overseas phone cards and have never been charged or else only charged a small fee.
We checked in our flight on the web and explained this to the concierge. We informed him that we were planning to check in our luggage at KL Central train station. He did not inform us that we needed to do this 2 hours prior to our flight as a result we were extremely rushed and almost missed our flight.
The hotel categorises itself as KLCC location, however, it is at least a 20 minute walk in KL humidity.
We asked if we could borrow an adaptor and it took 3 calls to the reception and more than 2 hours to arrive. In comparison, we have just completed a stay at Coco Grand Ueno, Tokyo (a small hotel) and made the same request. Although, they did not have the adaptor we required, they purchased one from a nearby shop for our use throughout our stay.
Only 2 tea bags and coffee sachets are provided daily. Most other 5 star establishments provide a variety of teas and coffees.
On our last day, our room was not cleaned when we returned at 4.30 pm.
Overall, the staff are pleasant and friendly, but I believe the management of the hotel is poor and extremely thrifty. This hotel compares poorly with other 4 or 5 star hotels.

Everything very clean and a superb breakfast. Hotel is behind the Pavilion shopping centre, about 5 minutes walking.
They actually wanted me to pay the full amount again. No amount of talking in my part could convince them that I had paid in full back in Singapore. Its only when I called Latestays did they finally confirmed.
My other family members had also booked online and upon checkout they were asked to pay a different price. When asked why, the staff mentioned the exchange rates that day was different from other days! Duh!
