About the Hotel
Hotel Facilities
The pleasingly unpretentious 35-storey Le Meridien is a five-star property with a handy location beside KL Sentral, the citys premier transport hub. Decorated with lots of mirrors and brass, it has a classic, minimalist style, but manages to exude a home away from home feel. Enjoy an array of premium meat cuts from Australia and US, complemented with an extensive selection of wines) and Favola (winner of Asias Finest Restaurant Award by the Miele Guide).

If you are looking for a chic room at a reasonable rate, then Le Meridien is the hotel for you. Behind the Jim Thompson silk drapes of each toffee-coloured room are views of the city and Lake Gardens and en-suite bathrooms have an ample bathtub and separate shower. Furnishings have a distinctive art deco touch and in-room conveniences include irresistibly-fluffy goose feather duvets. With KL Sentral right next door, you would expect rooms to be noisy but thankfully that is not the case, with each unit calm and quiet.

About the Hotel
Hotel Facilities
The Majestic Hotel KL is divided into two buildings (the Tower Wing and Majestic Wing) is an icon in Malaysia’ and its hotel landscape. Before, during and after WWII it was Kuala Lumpurs glamour spot and today maintains that same charismatic vibe with porters dressed in white shorts, knee high socks and pith helmets. The interior is magnificent with high ceilings, Roman columns, a gold leaf domed roof, vintage wrought iron ceiling lamps, intricate cornices, polished marble floors and chandeliers.

All rooms at the five star The Majestic Kuala Lumpur have four poster beds, fully stocked mini bars, Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries and magazines such as Malaysia Tatler, Prestige and YTL Life. Views are of the old railway station, outdoor pool, KTM headquarters or hotel gardens. The beautifully restored, four storey Majestic Wing (the original hotel) has 47 rooms with claw footed bathtubs, polished wooden floors, tufted carpets and earth tone accents. Cleverly concealed within the Victorian facade are modern amenities like flat screen TVs. Meanwhile, the 11 storey Tower Wing is a new, modern building with 253 rooms that successfully recreate the time period, but are more modern, with black, white and gold accents, glass enclosed bathrooms, and a flat screen TV by the bathtub and in the bedroom.

This Hotel is recommended for: >> Business, >> Couples and Families

What we loved:
- The Smokehouse: an 18th century-style London West End gentlemans club with a cigar room, movie theatre, card room, tailor and barbershop
- English-inspired spa treatments at the whimsical and classically-colonial Majestic Spa, which has seven treatment rooms
- The sunlit Orchid Conservatory - a glass atrium with Victorian-style brocade trim furniture and a gorgeous range of seasonal orchids
- Rooftop garden - ideal for private functions
- Cantango: in-house restaurant known for its wine cellar with 2,000 bottles, including an unrivalled collection of top-end wine label, Opus One
- Colonial Cafe and Tea Room - tea lounge and bar that strongly resembles an old-western saloon

What you should know:
- Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel
- Majestic Wing facilities include a cosy reading room and a drawing room where guests can hold private meetings
- Tower Wing facilities include 15 meeting rooms and a pillar-less ballroom that can accommodate 1,250 guests
- Majestic Hotel KL is located about 10 minutes from the Golden Triangle - but the hotel provides free shuttle service to KL Sentral and Starhill Gallery

Located atop KL Sentral, Kuala Lumpurs premier transport hub, the 35-storey Hilton KL is a time-honoured classic that sparkles with polished service. It has everything it takes to keep guests happy - the sixth and seventh floors are dedicated to meetings, conferences and events, while a two-storey gym, spa, sauna, and a 120-metre freeform terrace saltwater pool keep guests occupied leisure-wise. Styled in varying shades of Hershey brown, the hotels 503 soundproof rooms (including 32 suites) simply burst with the latest amenities. About the Hotel
Hotel Facilities
The Kuala Lumpur version of Starwoods Aloft brand is meant to thrill and entice your senses with its use of bold punchy colours, textured fabrics and gleaming brass and silverwork pillars. A study in contrasts, facilities-wise this place is both practical and slightly over-the-top: a moderately-sized infinity-edge rooftop pool is set beside a Polynesian-themed nightclub called Mai Bar (complete with giant Tiki heads). There is a bright and airy in-house restaurant with wraparound windows letting in plenty of natural light but it is done up in the style of an airport garden, with little booths sitting on patches of replica green turf. The lobby lounge area combines high-tech amenities (free Wi-Fi, iMacs and phone charging ports) with textured decor like goat fur throw cushions. The super stylish W xyz Bar hosts live indie bands on select nights while a slick, open-concept convenience store (Re:fuel) dispenses light snacks, juices and hot beverages 24/7.

Designed for the young design-conscious traveller on a budget, rooms are done up in a trendy colour palette of turquoise blue, royal purple and fuchsia. Outfitted with a retro-inspired couch, beds dressed with fluffy cotton duvets and an attached bath with a separate standing shower, they are simple at first glance. But after closer inspection you will see that quirky headboards are actually local cartoon strips, the flat-screen TV has plug-in-&-play capabilities (complimentary cables are available at the front desk) and the hotel is dedicated to helping the environment with built-in soap and shampoo dispensers and recycle bins. Families will be glad to know that while the hotel does not provide extra beds they offer air mattresses, allowing each unit to accommodate an extra guest.

This Hotel is recommended for: >> Families, >> Budget-Conscious, >> Sightseeing

What we loved:
- Plug In & Play: connect your portable electronics to the all-in-one connectivity panel to watch movies, play music, games, scroll through pictures or review a presentation from your laptop
- Super convenient location beside KL Sentral station
- Retro, trendy rooms with local cartoon strips on headboards in each unit
- Eco-friendly: recycle bins provided in each bedroom and built-in soap and shampoo dispensers in shower cubicles
- Camping-style air mattresses for kids
- Rooftop infinity-edge pool beside Mai Bar, a Polynesian-themed nightclub

- Fast and free Wi-Fi
- Metered taxis are easy to find

About the Hotel
Hotel Facilities
Set just across the road from KL Sentral, Hotel Sentral is a great base for guests who appreciate easy access to the city for sightseeing and shopping. A 24-hour business centre is next to reception with two meeting rooms, plus there is a fusion food restaurant and fashionable bistro onsite. What we really love is that, no matter the time of day we return to the hotel, we are greeted with a symphony of friendly greetings from staff members - it really makes our stay an enjoyable one.

For a three-star property, Hotel Sentral KLs 232 lodging units are well equipped - think a 32-inch flat-screen TV with cable channels, free Wi-Fi, and a electronic safety deposit box that can comfortably store a laptop. When it comes to bedding down, just keep in mind that there are only six compact room types at the 15-storey Hotel Sentral, five of which feature classic hotel style with some local touches added by way of batik-inspired artwork. But it is the 40 Express Rooms that really catch our attention - what they lack in space, they make up with funky design. We cant sing their praises enough. Styled with polished wood flooring, vibrantly-painted walls and in-room amenities that are fantastically comprehensive, and when it comes to price they are quite simply a steal! Ideal for KLIA transit travellers, simply hop on the train to KL Sentral, book a compact Express Room and grab a couple of hours of sleep.

This Hotel is recommended for: >> Backpackers, >> Business Travellers, >> Groups, >> Sightseeing, >> Shopping

What we loved:

About the Hotel
Hotel Facilities
Carcosa Seri Negara, two colonial mansions located on neighbouring hills within the 91.6hectare Lake Gardens, is a heritage property with an immensely rich pedigree and history. The first mansion, Carcosa, was built in 1896 as the residence of the first British High Commissioner back when Malaysia was a part of the colonial empire; meanwhile, Seri Negara was originally conceived in 1913 as the Governors Residence but went on to become the Kings House. In 1989 the tow were combined to form Carcosa Seri Negara, a luxury hotel under the aegis of the Malaysian government that has gone on to house some of the most famous visiting dignitaries to the country.

The power couple is home to a total of 13 rooms and suites (eight in Carcosa and five in Seri Negara); although the Carcosa mansion has been closed recently for refurbishment works. Nevertheless the Seri Negara complex remains as iconic as ever - comfortable and traditional, rather than cutting-edge, each of its five rooms is generously spaced with sizes ranging from 742sqft to 1,460sqft. Typical Victorian-era style is ever-present but in-room amenities befitting the 21st century is available - think free Wi-Fi, a colour TV offering cable programming and DVD player. His and her sinks, a veranda with gorgeous views of the Lake Gardens, personal butler service, daily complimentary fresh fruits, cookies and chocolates and turndown service are just some of the added touches that make a stay here extra special. Onsite facilities are limited to two restaurants, The Veranda offering Malay and French cuisine in a fine dining setting, and The Drawing Room, popular for its authentic English high tea sessions.
