About the Hotel
Hotel Facilities
Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpurs sidewalk is shaded by a leafy canopy of green trees and once you are inside, it is evident why this is one of the citys most popular hotels: rich, inviting and warm are words that perfectly sum up its interior design. Subtle local touches are imbued into almost every aspect - from staff members scarlet and gold uniforms, traditional songket kebayas to the Malaysian greeting (a hand over the heart and a slight bow) that greets you at every turn. The pool has such a stunning close-up view of the PETRONAS Twin Towers that it almost feels like it is slotted in between the two blocks. Meanwhile, a spa with reflexology treatments and a fitness centre with professional instructors round up the complexs list of leisurely pursuits. Food and drinks wise there are four restaurants offering French fine dining, Japanese, Cantonese and fusion cuisine and two bars: work-friendly facilities include a business centre, 13 function rooms and a pillarless ballroom.

Warm and welcoming, all in all there are 10 room types and each of the 662 rooms enjoy commanding views of the city and come with opulent red, orange, gold and walnut-brown decor and a marble bathroom. Rooms here are some of the largest in the city but the real knock out is the Horizon Club room. A fantastic example of how to do opulent glamour, it comes with white Victorian-style furniture, chandelier lighting, Nespresso coffee machines, custom-designed mattresses and bedding, and hoard-away worthy toiletries by LOccitane. Discretion is perhaps one of the main reasons the hotel has counted top film and music industry celebrities among its guests, a fact that has helped it maintain a loyal base of regulars.

This Hotel is recommended for: >> Shopping, >> Families, >> Group, >> Business, >> Sightseeing

What we loved:
- Speciality Suites get late check-out until 17:00
- LOccitane toiletries in Horizon Club room
- Hotel surrounded by lush greenery and has a maze-like garden

- Lafite, an award-winning French fine dining restaurant

About the Hotel
Hotel Facilities
Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpurs interior design of gilt mirrors, gleaming marble, and a sweeping circular staircase (perfect for making a grand entrance) make this five-star a property one that is truly unforgettable. Set along the quiet, tree-lined Jalan Conlay, it has a hideaway hotel feel and houses an impressive list of onsite facilities, ranging from standards like a spa, gym and pool to a barbecue deck, mini theatre and beauty salon. However, what really makes this hotel memorable is its ground floor, glass-roofed garden, which comes complete with glittering chandeliers, towering trees and water fountains. The hotel has four onsite dining venues (including three award-winning fine-dining restaurants, open from 12:00 - 22:30): LHeritage offers French cuisine, Tai Ping serves up Cantonese dishes and Bunga Emas has a menu of classic Malay food. Frequently playing host to Malaysian royalty (Raja Perempuan Perlis - the queen of Perlis - is a repeat visitor at Bunga Emas restaurant), service is second to none at Royale Chulan KL. Everything seems to have been designed on a superlative scale here, from the ornate chandeliers and flamboyant woodwork lattices to the pillars with embedded glass cabinets housing traditional keris knives.

The 12-storey The Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpur has a total of 10 room types, ranging in size from 40sqm to 120sqm. Out of its 402 accommodation units, 299 are hotel rooms while 103 are one- and two-bedroom serviced apartments. The hotels luxurious furnishings are also apparent in guestrooms - think plush carpets, Chesterfield sofas, ornate woodwork and batik-inspired satin bed runners. The entry level 40sqm Superior unit comes with a flat-screen TV offering cable channels, a DVD player, lifestyle magazines like Forbes Asia and Teratai Ayu toiletries, plus iPod docking stations are available upon request. However, take our advice and level up to the 41sqm Deluxe unit which has fantastic views of KLCC. If you are interested in a room offering comprehensive facilities and services then select the 46sqm Royale Club rooms which come with butler service, free laundry services for four clothing items and access to the Royal Club where all day snacks and evening tea is served from 06:30 - 10:30.

About the Hotel
Hotel Facilities
Pacific Regency Hotel Suites is a fun, four-star hotel with the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve as its backdrop and a great array of famous facilities. Leisure-wise the hotel keeps guests occupied with an onsite pool, gym and spa plus the hotel also has nine meeting rooms and a ballroom that fits about 260 people. However, it is the drinking and dining options that have put it on the map as a must-visit place in KL. Onsite restaurants include the award-winning Soi 23 (which focuses on interesting Thai cuisine), breakfast and lunch dining room Geo Cafe, and the relaxed modern-Italian Cristallo di Luna, which is set on the hotels 34th floor and boasts fantastic 180° views of the KL city centre. However, the hotels trump card is Luna Chill Out Bar, a spacious split-level rooftop lounge with unobstructed views of the city centre and a swimming pool as its centrepiece.

Perfect for both business travellers and families, Pacific Regency Hotel Suites 153 rooms are divided into two distinctly different towers designed to cater to each group separately. From studio-style suites to two-bedroom apartments, this often-overlooked property is a fantastic find, with rooms ranging in size from 409sqft to 1440sqft. Pacific Floor rooms are older and warmer in design, geared towards families, while Premier Floors are modern and cater to business travellers. Smoothly functional no matter which wing you choose, all units are kept cosy with choice home comforts such as a 42-inch flat-screen TV with cable channels, DVD player, free Wi-Fi and full kitchen facilities (in selected rooms) plus standards like an electronic safe, iron and ironing board and fully stocked mini bar. However, there are three things which really catch our eye: the first is the bed - headboards in Premier Floor units that have mini twinkle lights embedded in them. The second impressive showpiece in all rooms is the bathrooms with gold-laced mosaics and a giant egg-shaped bathtub - the perfect way to soak your stress away. Lastly, the most remarkable in-room feature is the unobstructed views from select rooms, with the KL Tower featuring prominently.

This Hotel is recommended for: >> Business Travellers, >> Families, >> Partygoers, and >> Shopping

What we loved:
- Luna Chill Out Bar - one of Kuala Lumpurs best rooftop bars
- Giant cereal-bowl-style bathtubs in all rooms

About the Hotel
Hotel Facilities
Five minutes from the Petronas Twin Tower and Bukit Bintang shopping area, Hotel Istana is a five-star business hotel with a touch of charm and luxury. Istana is Malay for palace, and the hotel is rightfully described as such, as it exudes elegance and grandeur, starting with the lobby lounge Songket Lounge with its high ceilings, intricately-patterned marbled columns, and tall glass windows with views of the gorgeously-landscaped gardens, to staff clad in traditional purple songket kebaya and baju melayu outfits welcoming you. Being in Jalan Raja Chulan makes Hotel Istana all the more attractive, too - with business centres, shopping, sightseeing and nightlife all a short walk away, guests are sure to be kept occupied throughout their stay. Facilities are impeccable and all geared towards relaxation and winding down after a hard days work - a shopping arcade, a florist, an international chain spa, five onsite dining outlets, an outdoor swimming pool and, our favourite features; two beautifully lush gardens, named Kelantan and Melaka, with exotic green species for you to bask in.

Rooms are airy and minimalistic, with classic-style furnishings such as wooden panels flanking the windows and a marble-fitted bathroom for a touch of opulence. Wired internet access, an LCD TV with cable channels, and radio with five channels wrap up the media amenities, together with an in-room safe, bath with separate shower and double vanity, a working desk and a seating area with views of the city skyline. The entry-level Deluxe Room category, with 38sqft and warm earthy colours, comes with either king or twin beds, but if you require more peace and quiet, we recommend the Club Rooms, located at the 18th floor onwards. Club Rooms resemble their Deluxe counterparts, but with access to Club lounge, serving complimentary breakfast, snacks and pre-dinner cocktails exclusive for Club floor occupants only.
