About Vang Viang:
The main attraction of Vang Vieng area is the limestone karst that lines the Song river. The karst is honeycombed with caves, tunnels and waterfalls. Vang Vieng is situated 160 km north of Vientiane and is home to Hmong and Yao people. Vang Vieng can be reached by bus from Vientiane and is a popular stop off point for visitors on the way to Luang Prabang.
The national capital of Lao PDR has grown quickly over the last five years but remains compact with a population of around 100,000. It is the hub of the entire country, but compared with other Asian cities it feels like a quiet getaway. Located on the banks of the Mekong River, the picturesque riverside restaurants, French Colonial buildings and gilded temples make the city a pleasant place to spend time in.
