The Colosseum or Coliseum ( or Colosseo) is originally the Flavian Amphitheatre, situated in the centre of the city of Rome. Originally capable of seating 45,000–50,000 spectators, it was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles, built on a site just east of the Roman Forum, with construction starting between 70 and 72 AD under the Emperor Vespasian. Even though it has been ruined by time, earthquakes, stone-robbers, yet it is still standing as the Roman Imperial Icon. Take some time to visit the granddad places around there; Palatino,Trajan's Markets Roman Forum, Piazza S. Giovanni in Laterano, Via di Santa Maria Maggiore, Domus Aurea and Arch of Constantine, Via Cavour.
