Gran Melia Jakarta is azure cladding and distinctive architecture are a dramatic addition to Jakartas increasingly cosmopolitan skyline. Once past the smiling attendant at the door, the visitors gaze is drawn up to the cascading ceiling and the intriguing curves and angles of the lobby. This hotel has been designed to please not only the eye, but the spirit. Grand as the hotel may be, service is warm and personal.

We did find the rooms a bit dusty smelly and damp and the pillows of the beds really smelled like a gecko had died in it. We asked to have the pillowcases changed we waited for a lonog time (20 minutes) and left the room, when we returned they looked changed but we where not sure as it did not make a difference. There where a lot of things wrong with the electricity. ..bathroom lights would not switch on, door would not open, tv would switch of/on. We called to have that solved and it took at least 30 minutes before someone came to look at it. Afterwards it still played up but we did not call again otherwise we would not have had any time left to enjoy the restaurant and the pool. The pool was a bit run down and very very cold!
We did LOVE the lobby and it is very clear that that is the main draw of the hotel and the rooms.....right when you really see them you have payed and are committed already so that is not soooo important (that was the feeling we got)
