Charlottenburg, in Berlin is divided into three specific areas; Charlottenburg, Charlottenburg-Nord and Westend. It is located to the east of the Havel River and to the south of the Spree River, with the exception of Charlottenburg-Nord at the other side of the river Spree. The eastern area is part of the Berlin-Warsaw glacial valley while most of the rest lies in the Teltow plateau. Best known for Charlottenburg Palace, the largest surviving royal palace in Berlin and adjacent museums, it is also home to Berlin's (1936) Olympic Stadium, the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, the International Congress Centre, the Gedenkstätte Plötzensee; a memorial to those murdered by the Nazi justice system between 1933 and 1945 and the Deutsche Opera Berlin.
