Suzhou is one hour away from Shanghai. It is a city in Jiangsu province, once the Wu Kingdom’s capital (12th – 4th century BC). Suzhou has been centred of silk trade and famed for its beautiful gardens and traditional waterside architecture. The Classical Gardens were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The nickname of the Paris of the East is from a numbers of canals in the city. Many climb up the North Pagoda for a nice view, some visit the new Suzhou Museum and Silk Museum exhibiting history of silk making and the Silk Road. As the Silk base, Suzhou is one of the best choices to find a great silk. Suzhou food is slightly sweet, yet good to try.
