Jilin is in the north-eastern part of China. Jilin borders North Korea and Russia to the east and Inner Mongolia to the west. ‘Jilin’ is from Manchu, means along the river, while in Chinese, it is favourable forest. These describe its surrounding with nice cool weather where travellers enjoy the long winter, offering the Night Lantern Festival and winter sports including nice skiing resorts. Jilin has also many historical attractions, the General’s Tomb built in the 4th century for the king of the Gaogouli nation, the green stone made stale, the Last Emperor’s palace (the Emperor Puyi) featuring great architecture and gardens. Changbai Shan is highly worth a visit, since its beauty and rare nature.
