The beauty and mystery of the Grampians may be best explored by foot. There are more than 160 kilometres of walking tracks ranging from short, easy walks, day long and overnight challenging expeditions.

The area is also rich in European pioneering history. Explore Troopers Creek in Roses Gap, Zumsteins in Wartook and Brim Springs in Brimpaen or why not explore Gulgurn Manja Shelter and Ngamadjidj Shelter in the Northern Grampians and to the west Billimina Shelter Loop and Manja Shelter.

Popular shorts walks within an one hour return include picturesque MacKenzie Falls. An excellent walk for wildflowers is Beehive Falls. One of the most photographed spots in the Grampians is The Balconies, and the panoramic views of the Wimmera plains from Mount Zero are spectacular.

For rugged rocky outcrops and magnificent views of the ranges explore Golton Gorge or Hollow Mountain walk.

Both are an approximate two hour return trip.

For the more adventurous walkers try Mount Stapylton for the climb over Flat Rock and pass through the Amphitheatre. Briggs Bluff walk explores impressive cliffs and wind scoured caverns; and Asses Ears Mountain Range walk. All are approximately three hour return hikes.

Wildflowers are best seen during late winter through to summer. Wartook Valley is one of Australia's richest flora areas with over one thousand species - twenty of which are found nowhere else in the world.

The Grampians is also home to over 200 bird species and over 40 species of mammal have been recorded in the park including possums, echidnas, wallabies and kangaroos. Plus emus, lizards, deer and skinks- there's so much more!
